CRYSTALS - GEMS
- STONES - MINERALS - ROCKS
Since the beginning of time we have cherished and sought beautiful rocks to which some we have named gems. Precious metals like gold have caused countless wars and deaths. But this attraction, to what the earth has given us, is not a human only trait. Some fish and birds seek our shiny rocks for their nests to attract mates. Termites collect diamonds and gold to keep at the entrances to their nests. Many rodents also have a liking for the natural beauty of stones and collect them. Can it be that we are attracted merely because they are pretty? Think also of the fact that there are thousands of different types of minerals, crystals, gems, stones, and rocks. Each having their own (scientific) chemical make ups, hardness, cleavage, fracture, specific gravity, and refractive properties which make them react to our vibration and chemical make up. As humans we are physically chemicals, water, and electricity (vibrations). So perhaps there is a reason for so many different kinds. Regardless of the reasons, we have always used gems, rocks, stones, minerals, and crystals in religious ceremonies, as gifts, as adornments, to aid in health or prosperity, to enhance the emotional atmosphere, in our spiritual pursuits, and as protection - to name just a few ways and reasons.
