MAKING YOUR OWN PERMANENT
SACRED CIRCLE
Before you begin, please read the entire page. Remember to make any alterations as needed for your pagan sect. This circle is generic and perfect for the eclectic and ULEK praticioners. You will need to be prepared before you make the circle. This is not a last minute, 'I will run out and make one tonight' type of thing. Making a Sacred Circle is not that complex but you will need a few tools. But most importantly YOU will need to make some choices about your circle. Give yourself plenty of time knowing that you will need to bless/open/cast the permanent circle on a nite of a full moon, before you start to use the circle. You do not have to do all the work to make the circle at one time, but prepare in organized stages. Once you mark your circle you may have to remove small bushes (explain to the bush why and thank it ) and maybe even out the ground some. Clearing bushes and scrub can be done after the full moon but all other work, making the circle in any way should be done as the full moon is beginning. It is recommend that the work be done in the proper moon phases, the three days before and the day of the full moon. In some cases depending on how you will work mostly with your circle you may be able to use a new moon. Each moon is specific to deities and powers, if you are concentrating your circle to one then you need to be on the right full moon. But the last stage in making your circle is in the nite of the full moon you will want to 'cast', bless, empower, and open the Sacred Circle.
The Four directions points should be marked using a compass to
find exact North (white), South (red), East (yellow) and West (black). Your first decision
in making your own circle is how big it will be and that is partially determined by if you
will have directional stones marking the four directions or a smaller circle indicating
the directional points. To help you make that decision consider these questions.
These four directional stones can be guardian/watchtower stones or a smaller circle of stones with the center point being again the exact direction per the compass. You should select the stones or objects you will be using in your circle before you begin to make it. Some people will use statues for the directional points in the totem animal or element for that direction. This is your space and I personally believe what ever things you consider powerful makes them powerful and should be used. Posts with rune symbols are nice to use too.
So the first step is to note where the center of the circle will be. The ground should be flat and make sure you have enough room before you start. Since the Tree is represented as sacred in most pagan practices, you might have a tree be the center point of the circle. Or if you intend to have a fire pit that could be the center. Think it all out first. If you have a fire make sure that it is far enough away from buildings and trees, and close enough to a water supply in case if get out of control. Make sure that people will be able to safely move within the circle too. Unexpected winds should be expected when doing ceremonies.
To find the power point in your yard or on the land many use pendulums or dowsing sticks. You can make the center where ever you want but having a mini-vortex or power point to start with is always a plus. The center is the power point of the circle and where ALL comes from. This is how to construct a Sacred Circle - without the incantations to each stone that could be said/used when placing them.
Depending on your beliefs, this would determine how you will use the wheel/circle and of course the opening ceremony too. Once your circle is made I think it imperative to do an opening ceremony to set and bless the space on a proper full moon night.
