Thank you for your interest in the Spiritual Network's On-Line Meditation workshop. This On-Line workshop has been constructed into sections from KayAhRa's workshop. Teaching meditation since the eighties, KayAhRa has put together lessons that are quick and very impactual for an advanced, no-frills learning experience.   The On-line Meditation workshop has text for reading and understanding the topic being discussed, occasionally graphics to keep your interest high, specific diagrams and visuals when needed, examples, exercises for you to practice to increase your meditational skills, 'homework' to do on a daily basis to further your meditation abilities, and even a test at the end to be sure you would be ready to advance to the next Meditation level. Please note that this on-line workshop is divided into levels whereas KayAhRa's live Meditation Workshop (given in St. Louis Missouri and where she travels for lectures) includes all the lessons and levels presented in the on-line classes.

ON LINE MEDITATION CLASS ~ LEVEL ONE

When you have completed On-Line Meditation Level One you will...

  1. Have an understanding of what meditation can be
  2. Learn about different reasons to meditate including reducing stress, being healthier and self-empowerment to reach your own personal goals
  3. Be able to detect stress factors in your life
  4. Know how to reduce the effects of stress in your life
  5. Understand how you can heal your physical body and illnesses through mediation practices
  6. Understand the concept of  mental and emotional 'garbage' and how to throw out the trash
  7. Know how to properly prepare the body to meditate
  8. Understand various sitting positions that work best for meditation so you can find the one that works the best for you
  9. How to create a Meditative Place and use it beneficially
  10. And then be ready to advance to Level Two

An on-line work shop is a different experience than attending one of our classes in person. To make the workshop as productive as possible it includes questions, exercises, and even tests. Yes, tests! because an instructor is not there able to assist you and guide you through the lessons and there to review your progress we offer simple little tests that will allow you to judge when you are ready to proceed to the next lesson.

The entire meditation workshop was originally designed to encompass seven weeks and a minimum of ten classroom hours with lots of homework and additional group discussions between the participants.  The in-person workshop is presented in an accelerated pace whereas the on-line workshop can be taken at your own pace.  In a class setting KayAhRa is able to watch and ask questions to be sure the students are really ready to move onto the next section. In this on-line workshop, you must be your own judge but you will still have exercises, reading, and homework to do.

Most of the lesson web pages are artistly done to add interest during the reading portions of the on-line lesson. Please note that no music is incorporated. Music can be a vital key in meditation itself as discussed in the Level 2 on-line meditation workshop.

Lesson 2

Lesson 3

Lesson 4

medworld.jpg (4369 bytes)In meditation you can create your own personal mental world. A safe place that you go to in order to do your meditation work. This is called your "Meditation Place".  Many people use a place in nature (near  a stream, the beach, high on a mountain) while some use a religious place or a perfect room. Now is a great time to start considering what your "Meditation Place" will be like. Giving yourself a few days to think of this place is an excellent idea, so I mention this now.

Lesson 5

Lesson 6

Meditation can change your viewpoints on many things as well as your own life style. Many find that through this meditation course you also experience a lot of self-evaluation. This happens mainly in the processes of cleaning up the garbage in your mind and in identifying stress factors.

An important thing to remember is that meditation is 'completion without regret'. If your mind wonders, it has wondered. There is no guilt,  for it is past. If you focus on the now, the past does not matter. If a stray thought comes, it already came so let it go. You are already in a new moment. Refocus. Continue. Just because you have started to think of something else does not mean you can not meditate or that you should give up. Let it go. Continue. Complete the session no matter how many times you have had stray thoughts. Continue and complete, without regret. This is a thought process you should incorporate into your CLEANING MEDITATION.  Just do the exercises. There is no trying, either do it or do not do it. There is no in-between. There is no failure if you attempt to meditate and have random thoughts. Just choose to complete it and then do it.

Lesson 7

(Please note that steps 1~7 are not shown in this excerpt)

PHYSICAL MEDITATIVE SITTING POSITION
This is the proper way to prepare your body for a meditation session. Practice doing this daily, even if it is to just practice preparing the body or do this and 'empty the garbage'. Note that we are not yet introducing breathing methods. This is just to get the physical body comfortable and ready for a session of meditation . . . . . . . .

8. Place your hands in a comfortable position.

  • Many like the COSMIC MUDRA position. Your right palm facing upwards, thumb at belly button; relaxed yet cupping. Left hand on top of right hand - thumb at belly button so that both thumbs just touch. Your right hand is holding the left. A line pointed straight in the open would point to the 'Don Tin' 2-3 inches below the navel. The Tanden (Japanese) or Tan Tien (don-tin) insitmed.jpg (2515 bytes) Chinese is where your vital spiritual core or cosmic energy center is located within the physical form.

  • There are many positions you can place your hands in, just select one that is comfortable for you and that agrees with your own personal and spiritual practices.

  • I do however not suggest that your hands are palm down on your legs since many people do find themselves getting warm during meditation and this would create heat and sweaty palms that could later distract you.

Lesson 8

Lesson 9

USING PHYSICAL SENSES TO FOCUS FOR MEDITATION

medclap.jpg (5281 bytes)Overwhelming or distracting the senses allows your mind to focus on the sensation on a conscience level which keeps that part of the mind busy. With that section of your mind being distracted it may allow you to focus your attentions better in meditation or at least help you avoid a distraction from that sense.  Most people claim they can not meditate because their focus is distracted. In this section you will learn some ways to incorporate the physical into meditation to distract the sense itself, on purpose!
