About the Chickasaw Seal
- The outside rim is golden to represent the golden purity
- The second ring is purple for spirituality and honor
- Two arrows being held show the ancient Chickasaw tribes had two groups - one of
warriors who lived on the outside and were protectors of the larger inner group that lived
in a town like grouping
- A warrior is shown as the Chickasaw are a people of strength - Tishomingo
- Four feather are shown as honor to the four directions
- A traditional decoration was made of swan feather to be worn as a band to
indicate a great warrior
- The quiver is decorated with white fur but usually made of deer and the bow
shows the hunting skill and also the acceptance of defending one's tribe.
- Knee straps made of deer hide were thought to bring fleetness but probably wear
to protect the legs as they ran through the brambles and grasses.
- The shield is the constant source of protection
- The Chickasaw people lived near the Mississippi, the river "without
source", and also had to cross it
- Trees remind of the natural connection to earth and of the ancient homeland that
had both evergreen and foliage trees
